August Tasks and Activities on The Allotment

By the time August arrives most of the planting has been done and various plants are at different stages of growth.

Now if you have any left you can still harvest your blackcurrants.

Keep watering plants if the weather is dry.  You need to do this especially for runner beans as they shouldn’t be left dry and things that are fruiting.

Maintenance now becomes key.  Weeding if possible needs to be kept on top of.  Onions especially need to be weed free.  It may be that you have already harvested your early onions.

Keep checking the underside of your brassicas for caterpillars and do not assume the net will save them from this fate.

Keep rubbish clear.
