July and Crops are Finally Ready

July is almost over and I am very happy with my results so far.  I have had a few broccoli, lots of kale, some lettuce and onions and now 1.5lb of plump blackcurrants.

Summer is tough this year with constant watering required and trying to avoid bolting due to the hot weather.  I am finding walking to the site and then watering 12 or so trips with two 10 liter cans quite heavy going.

But there is nothing quite like having your own produce.  Carefully picked crispy lettuce and spring onions ready to take hoe for tea.

And it tastes, it actually tastes!  Everything is much stronger than in the shops.
